PT/Seasonal (21 hours/week)
Assist principal in planning the library’s program and help formulate the media selection policy. Maintain library materials and promote library atmosphere in addition to various activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare weekly lessons regarding library skills (preK-6)
- Process new books, and enter data on computer
- Inform teachers of purchases and additions to their subject areas
- Introduce teachers to bibliographic tools in subject and grade level areas
- Check out books and magazines and keep record
- Read books, magazines, professional journals, review services and local publications for information on selecting materials and equipment
- Address curriculum goals in insuring relevant skills and materials are covered
- Read books available to students and teachers to better aid them in selecting materials
- Evaluate and select supplies, books, magazines, videos and equipment
- Organize and maintain reserve and special media collections
- Notify students of overdue materials
- Read shelves and shelve new and returned books
- Label all books, magazines and other materials with access code
- Assist faculty and students
- Keep circulation count file updated each day
- Keep books in repair
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school education or equivalent
- Strong verbal and math skills
- Some post high training in education preferred
- Self-starter
- High energy
- Adapts well to a variety of task
- Planning and organizational skills
- Problem solving and decision making ability
- Likes children
